Crazy storm blowing through. Had a lot of wind last night and a lot of rain this morning.
Tornado warnings northwest of us, but only thunder, lightning and crazy rain.
Sorry about the quality. It was raining on the porch, too; I only wanted to show how the water runs off the roof.
The storm has pretty much passed now. The UPS is working overtime while the lights flicker.
We are blessed if all we get is a bit of rain.
You all have a safe, blessed New Year. It will be here before we know it!

Thank you, Mom!
So my Mom sent us some money for Christmas and we used it to take everyone to lunch.
We did not go to the Paragon Casino again. As much as I love their buffet, hubby does not like driving all the way to get there.
I did some thinking and we decided on Noodles and Grill Asian Cuisine. It's right in town and has something that everyone can eat.
They were really
Youngest son Patrick.
He has several health issues, among them being that we never know what is going to make him sick. It is a problem we have been chasing for several years now and is still ongoing. We know a lot about what it is not, but not what it is. Spice of any kind and most seasonings, too, are a definite no no; as are potatoes in any form. So he got the beef fried rice.
Fried rice is pretty much always safe for him. This place doesn't make theirs with soy sauce like a lot of places do, which is also a plus.
One thing we like about this restaurant? Bean sprouts. It may sound picky, but a lot of Asian restaurants around here don't serve bean sprouts. Even the Tao restaurant in Lafayette doesn't. But they do here and we like bean sprouts.
Middle son Robert.
He did two tours in Iraq and has PTSD. He likes things spicy, so he got the Penang Udon.
He said it wasn't as spicy as it looked; but was still very good.
Hubby ordered Wonton Egg Noodle Special.
I ordered the Pepper Steak. When it came out it didn't look like pepper steak, but I tried it anyway and it was really good, with just a bit of a bite to it.
When we got the receipt, it turns out it was Triple Meats with spicy Garlic Sauce.
All in all, a great lunch. THANK YOU, MOM!
God bless you all and Merry Christmas. ♥

A quick update
Hubby will be getting a mobility chair from the VA. We wanted a cart, but they say he needs a chair.
And before he gets the chair, we had to have a new door, which they paid for.
So, our old door, and the new ramp they paid to have built.
And the new door. Turns out I took a crooked picture. Typical for me, haha.
Fifty-five here for the first official day of winter. Depending on which weatherman we listen to, Christmas will be anywhere between 69 and 74. Good weather for more painting!
Happy Winter Solstice. Merry Christmas and God bless. :)

A little foggy this morning.
Taken about 7AM Central time.
It's almost noon. Fog is pretty much gone.
Rain tomorrow and Thursday.
Maybe a new door Friday.
You all be safe and have a Merry Christmas. God bless.

The year is almost over!
Crazy. Seems like I just paid my taxes. Which will be going up. That sucks lemons.
Anyway, A few fall pictures.
A small Sun Dog.
And our new "shop light".
I have been wanting something to help light the garage - which does not have electricity - when the sun is setting in the fall/winter and we are grilling. This light does a great job with only one light on!
We just run an extension cord from the RV and we have light! :)
You all be safe. God bless and Merry Christmas!

Really nice Saturday.
What passes for "fall" in Louisiana.
Sorry for the blurry pictures. I'll try to do better next time.
Went to the Jockey Lot flea market. Got a couple more sets of sheets for the bed. They are hubby's favorite right now.
We had lunch at what has become my favorite place in Lafayette. Tao Asian Cuisine.
I forgot to take pictures. But I did find a picture of hubby's meal on the internet.
I recommended this dish to him because I have had it before. It is really good.
And we had to stop at our favorite pastry shop, too. laMadeleine.
And that's about it for our Saturday. Found a lot of stuff. And a lot of stuff we didn't find, but can't complain with sun and 73 degrees. :)

I know I have a lot to be thankful for. More than I know for sure.

Appropriate day
I want to thank everyone who has served and is serving, for our freedom.
Today is a grey day. Appropriate, I think for the solemn memories.
Wanted to let you see our grey sky, Mom!
Hubby is more sore today than he was a couple days ago. The doctor told him that would happen.
Going up and down stairs multiple times yesterday probably aggravated him some, too.
Still waiting on the VA who seem to be dragging their feel a lot. Typical government health care, no matter the President's Veterans Day message.
Not his fault though. Just annoying since the health care was better a handful of years ago.
You all be safe and God bless.

I got a new toy. :)
It's called a Jaw Saw. Made by a company called WORX. It is a battery operated chain saw. It cuts logs, branches, and small saplings up to four inches in diameter.
I tried it for a bit today. Would have done more, but had to poison some fire ant hills first.
I LOVE IT!
Hubby had a scare this evening. He thought he might have cracked a rib. Fortunately, he just bruised his side. Thank you, Lord!
The VA is dragging their feet over everything lately. Ever since VA health care supposedly is starting to improve, it has gotten noticeably worse here. Trusting in God to get things done in His time. :)
You all be safe and God bless. ♥

Last Saturday in October
Sad day today in Pennsylvania. My God comfort families who lost loved ones and may He heal those injured.
For something lighter at heart. A couple men came by today and asked if they could use metal detectors to search for Civil War stuff, or anything, really.
Hubby told them yes.
They actually found a few things. A metal toy car, an old wheat penny - and junk, as hubby put it. I doubt it was junk, but if they said, he wasn't interested to remember, haha.
But a few things they found, they insisted we keep.
A brass shotgun shell.
A metal piece of a harmonica.
And what I think was best, a Confederate mini ball, found out under (?) the old corner oak. (They said it was under, but they must have meant the canopy or near one of the roots maybe?)
It was a really nice day today. Mid 70s, a little breeze. Nice.

I should probably finish
talking about our trip to Michigan.
We left on Highway 31 to Highway 131. As we were driving along, we saw a sign for an Air Zoo. Now I never heard of an Air Zoo, but what made us turn around was the SR-71 on the small bill board.
SR-71 will always be hubby's favorite. Beale AFB, California (back in Regan's time) was our first joint assignment after getting married. So, we turned back and followed the signs to Portage, Michigan. I wish we could have stayed longer; but we saw the important (to hubby) display.
There were a number of these stencils leading from the parking lot to the front door of the Air Zoo. We used to see these all over Kadena AB, Okinawa. Hubby would not admit to doing a few of them himself. ;-)
We looked at a few other displays, like an actual engine from an SR, an interactive weather video and a few other things, but we barely scratched the surface. The SR was one that had been used by NASA, as you can see.
I did see my first one of these, while I was there:
Fortunately I was the only one using it at the time, so I didn't have to wonder...
If you want to know what all you can see (and what we missed), click on this link for the Air Zoo.
And a little store we actually discovered about 4 years ago. Wilson Farm Market. A great little farmer's market type store in Amish country. We specifically made sure to stop there on the way home. And should have bought more! We thought that last time, too.
Click the link to see more, because I didn't think to take pictures. The Pumpkin Roll we bought was great. I thought about getting the Red Velvet one also, but didn't.
We did buy a dozen jumbo brown eggs (hubby's favorite), and they all had double yolks! (Again, hubby's favorite!)
We'll just have to go there again!
You all be safe and God bless!

The temps say it is still summer
Temps during the day this week -- mid to upper 90s. It was 100 when we were in town this afternoon.
But the Spider lilies say it is fall.
Autumnal Equinox later this week. I love seeing the Spider lilies in the fall. It is crazy. They can not be there one day, then after a rain they'll be 4-6 inches tall, or more!
I did a little mowing this morning. Middle son landed a part-time job, so I went out for a bit until about noon. I could tell when I started getting.. the first touches of too much heat. I was drinking plenty of water, but that doesn't always help. I got inside fine, though. No graying of the vision or anything like that. I did get the slight pressure in my head that said I was getting too warm. I decided to listen to that today. :)
But I will probably go out again in a day or two. Pecan season is almost here. Need to get ready!
Sorry for the blur. My phone camera doesn't like to take a picture of what I'm looking at. Ha!
I picked that pecan and cracked it open after I came in. Shared it with hubby. He said "I could eat more of those." :)
How do we get ready for pecan season, you may ask? We mow crop circles, basically. With the pecan tree in the middle. Mow a circle that is as big in diameter as the branches are sticking out from the tree. Long grass may be good for hunting rabbits; but short grass is better for picking pecans.
You all be safe, and God bless.
