Merry Christmas!

I want to thank all of you who have followed my blog over the years. I appreciate it. Haven't been sharing as much, sorry. As the government gets bigger, what I feel like sharing gets smaller. But I do appreciate you all, none the less.

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I hope you, your friends and loved ones have a safe, happy day. Wishing you all a safe, Blessed New Year, too.

House lizard

Caught him looking out the window.

Then he caught me looking at him.

So glad I don't have to go into town today.

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone. Full moon tomorrow night!
God bless. ♥

Wow. The year is almost over

Hopefully a good year will be in all our futures.
Robert took these pictures for me. I spotted this fungus on the way to the VA hospital for an appointment. AN APPOINTMENT. FIVE HOURS. Oh well.

Annoying ants have made a HUGE hill right next to the mushrooms. I believe there is an old stump here, but it could as easily be a rotten fence post.

I think you can click on them to make them larger...

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a blessed New Year to you all. ♥

November things

Yup. I forget, so I wrote the type on them.

We thought it was going to be a bad season, but we have sold almost three hundred pounds so far, and have more to go. All the rain has been a blessing and a hindrance. We have been in drought conditions, but wet pecans split.

I planted a couple to see if they will actually grow; but no one will buy them like this.

We have barely made a dent.

Most of the older trees look like this now. You have to be careful where you walk, because the ground is so soft, you can push the pecans into the ground.

And I want to say thank you to all who have served, all who are serving, and to everyone who gave all. God bless America.

September

The year is almost three-fourths over. Haven't been posting a lot. Haven't done anything I wanted to share, really.
Been doing a lot of fishing, but not a lot of catching. This new header, that's a little fishing buddy we encountered Saturday when we were fishing. He was about two feet long, maybe three. He was very interested in what we were doing.

We've had a little break in the heat, but not so much rain lately.

I am very sad for my country right now. Things are worse than they were in the 60s. I keep praying that we won't have martial law; but right now it just scares me.

I've been praying for California, Oregon and Washington, too. Drought, forest fires, not good.

I hope you are all well. Take care and God bless. ♥

Too hot for anything but a picture.

Thanks to my local Ag email for the photo. Stay cool! Blessings. ♥

Things around the farm

One of my most despised weeds.

The pecan crop is coming along.

With the heat and lack of rain, we've started watering some of the trees. Will cost us in electricity, but the next month or so will be critical for the growing nuts.

I love when the little egrets come around while we are mowing. They're fun to watch as they go after the bugs that fly away from the mowers.

They don't like being photographed...

Stay cool, be safe, God bless. ♥

Ugly bug

crawling in the branches of one of our pecan trees...

I think if you click on the pictures you'll be able to see it out near the end of that branch. It's actually fairly large. Moved slow too; made me think of a chameleon.

I'm going to send the pictures to the local AG pecan guy and see if it is something to worry about. I try not to kill bugs if I can help it, but sometimes you need to.

Pecans are doing well. We may be blessed with a good crop this year.

Supposed to get to a hundred this weekend. And remain very humid. I guess it's a good week to travel.
We'll be leaving the boys and going to Florida to see the sister-in-law. She hasn't been well and her medicines seem to be making her sick. Be gone about four days. Not taking the computers, so I will be able to do email, but not much more. Blogs are iffy on the phone.

Take care and have a safe weekend when it gets here. God bless! ♥

Drying out

Saturday and Sunday, we got another 4 inches of rain. It could have been more, but the little rain gauge said four, so that is what I go with.

We had almost two and a half inches last week.

So almost seven inches in two weeks! Needless to say, it is still quite wet in the pasture garden.

The cucumbers are only doing so so now. The beans are no more, as are all but one of the eight tomato plants I put out.

We bought three new tomato plants and put them by the house. The two regular size tomato plants I picked 8 tomatoes from yesterday. I did not take pictures. Between the rain and heat and humidity, even though none of them was completely ripe, they had all split to the meat. Makes me glad hubby doesn't eat as many tomatoes as he used to. They all went into the compost pile.

The Sun Sugar cherry tomatoes are slowly producing fruits. One has sort of survived in the pasture. The other is mostly doing okay in the tub I planted it in.

I'll take a picture sometime.
All the pole beans I replanted have grown taller than their supports. Now if they'd just flower!

Stay cool and dry, wherever you are! God bless. ♥

Thank you, farmers, everywhere! God bless.

Wouldn't you know it?

While our garden has been drowning, middle son found this while doing some weed eating along the needs-to-be-repaired back fence line.

Cantaloupe vines. With melons!

Hope you all have a blessed weekend. ♥

Two and a quarter inches.

Is how much rain we got yesterday. The pasture garden looks like this:

The tomatoes are pretty much dead. Glad I made hills for the cantaloupe! They have started to sprout, but I didn't chance going out there.

I didn't take pictures of the cucumbers, don't know why I keep forgetting; but they are growing very well and blooming.

Me, with my 'walking hoe', as I checked over the garden.

I'll try to take more/better pictures next time.

Have a blessed week! :-)

Thank you, Lord

For watching over us and keeping us safe.

Hope you all have a blessed week! ♥

P.S. Just wanted to add a picture for my brother, who has been having a lot of rain, too.

The Red River, in town, is at 35.7 feet. Only three feet above flood stage; but with all the rain we've gotten today.. Fortunately, there are a lot of levees protecting us from the river.
Oh, the numbers tell the boats/ships the clearance to the bottom of the bridge. :-)
