However, I discovered the problem: On the second PC, it certainly required the installation of mingw because it was looking for libintl-8.dll. Due to a missing path (my fault), it was not finding that dll. So this application is not `XP transparent' and I guess could not be, unless the required functions could be loaded into the application. But if that is possible, I do not know how to achieve it. The -lintl option is part of the compile script and there is a libintl.a and a libintl.dll.a in the lib directory. Alternatively, the Windows alternatives to using the function(s) in libintl-8.dll would need to be found. Regards |

My favourite would be 2), with one additional note that once MS would
assign a meaning to errno 132, we'd get a /wrong/ strerror output. But
*if* this happened, we could still use another value for EOVERFLOW.
WRT 1) What does it mean, *not* to implement it? What would happen,
if there are more then SSIZE_MAX bytes in the input data w/o the given
delimiter? Would we simply wrap to 0 (bad, but not fatal), or would
we encounter a crash, because we'd request a maybe negative value
when calling realloc(), or what would happen? Sorry, I could try to
check this myself, but my lack of time forbids this for now. I think
that we'd need to check carefully the [un]signedness of values and
variables in this context...
WRT 3) I tend to read man pages from different sources, so I could
be missing this non-standard implementation detail, and maybe others
would as well.
Just my 2 ct.

Hi, I am trying to build the mingw GDB with python support enabled on MINGW+MSYS installation on my Windows machine. The following link was referred to build the GDB:- http://forums.codeblocks.org/index.php?topic=11301.90 Expat was built prior to the GDB as per the link. Then GDB was built using "--with-expat". However, the built GDB crashes when trying to run. Please let me know how to build the mingw GDB with python support on MINGW+MSYS. It would be much better if mingw GDB with python support could be built on linux machine. I have mingw installed on my linux machine. The versions used to build mingw GDB are:- GDB 7.3.1 Python 2.7 Expat 2.0.1 When I execute the command rx-elf-gdb, the exe is crashing. The problem signature of Windows shows following, {{{ Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: rx-elf-gdb.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4f4b8b7d Fault Module Name: python27.dll Fault Module Version: 2.7.2150.1013 Fault Module Timestamp: 4df4ba7c Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000d4533 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.4 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 }}} Has anyone seen this earlier? How is the memory referenced by lpSubKey originally declared? Is it
guaranteed to point to a writeable data section? Is the buffer at that
address guaranteed to have free space at the end, to accommodate the
extra '\\' you're trying to append.

I'm guessing, (because you haven't provided us with enough diagnostic
information -- how does it crash? what is the error message? -- for me
to do otherwise), that you are trying to modify data in a read-only
section; (hint:
char *lpKey = "string constant";
and lpSubKey pointing to a sub-string of lpKey, makes *lpSubKey a
read-only reference).

Likely for the same reason.

Without seeing the info you failed to provide, I don't either.

Trying to delete registry keys and having a problem with the code I have been working with. The address on MSDN below has an example and I've modified it to work except for one part. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724235(v=vs.85).aspx // Check for an ending slash and add one if it is missing. lpEnd = lpSubKey + lstrlen(lpSubKey); if (*(lpEnd - 1) != TEXT('\\')) { *lpEnd = TEXT('\\'); // This line crashes the app lpEnd++; *lpEnd = TEXT('\0'); // This one crashes too } I'm not sure how to start debugging, but I also don't understand why this is failing. |

their respective hosting sites as well as at
ftp://gcc.gnu.org/pub/gcc/infrastructure/. See also

you obtained GMP, MPFR and/or MPC from a vendor distribution package,
make sure that you have installed both the libraries and the header
files. They may be located in separate packages.

From: Me M. a. I <sta...@li...> - 2012-02-27 00:06:45

Many thanks for the library files! I have solved my previous problem, and have reinstalled an operable version of mingw32. The library files appear to be ok, however I find that my ./configure; on my gcc source code (with gcc-java source inside it) still fails with a similar stated error error, apparently halting with the message that I don't have the correct version of gmp.h. Even though my gmp.h directory is now referenced in $PATH. I still get the message that I'm missing GMP,MPFR,MPC libraries even though I'm not. What is happening? ________________________________ > From: sfh...@ho... > To: sta...@li... > Subject: RE: Compiling and building vital libraries. > Date: Sun, 26 Feb 2012 13:13:41 +0000 > > Hi there, > > Find attached GMP, MPFR & MPC binaries for MinGW x86. There's no /lib/cpp in MinGW, so don't waste your time looking for it
or trying to build it. There even isn't a certainty at this point
that the problem you had trying to build GMP was due to the
preprocessor; it could well be something entirely different.
> The advice I have so far doesn't help
Did you try to compile the test program manually, like I suggested?
If you did, what were the results?
If you didn't, please do, as I'm quite sure this is the right way of
finding the root cause for your trouble.
Once again, here are the steps I suggest, with some more details this
time:
. Copy the offending test program to a file named conftest.c. For
your convenience, I attach the file's contents at the end of this
message.
. Open a Windows Command Prompt window (note: NOT the MSYS shell
window! the "normal" Command Prompt window with the default Windows
shell, cmd.exe.
. Go to the directory where you put conftest.c and type these
commands:
gcc -std=gnu99 -E conftest.c
echo %ERRORLEVEL%
. The second command must be typed immediately after the first.
. Copy/paste the output into a mail message and post the results
here.
Here's the test program again, just copy text between the two "----"
dividers and save to a file:

I have been using mingw-get-inst-20110530 to get the most up to date archives. Is there a more recent copy of this installer exe I can use to install mingw32 afresh, with no problems? Your MinGW install is mysteriously broken, it has nothing to do with installing GNU CPP. You should try using Linux cross compiler in a VM if you're stuck on Windows, it might just solve most of your problems. |

As a beginner with both c and mingw, I attempted moving an application from the ...nix environment to Windows XP using mingw. To do this, I one-by-one linked the various *.c components, including headers and library functions unavailable with the standard mingw distribution (eg regex, regcomp, getline, uname, libintl.a ...), then compiled the lot with the -Wall option. There were no complaints and the application worked! I then copied the application to a second PC with the same version of XP (according to the "ver" command), but the application aborted. During the compile on the original, I did not have any cause to think there may be dynamic libraries included. However to be sure, I installed the same distribution of mingw on the second PC together with the additional libraries. The application still aborted! I copied the application from the second PC back to the original PC and ran it. It was OK. I would welcome any suggestions about what to do in order to discover the cause of the problem on the second PC. Regards |

Are there any mingw32 people who know what I need to do to my /lib/cpp to get it behaving better? The advice I have so far doesn't help; further complicated that I seem to have a working /bin/cpp already. What changes do I need to introduce? |
