Use colorspace RBG32 in the script. VD only use 8b & 16b, IDK with other in input but it's enought, +24b it's useless... But if you installed all codec to read viveo/audio, you don't need any script except if VD don't have what you want in his filter...

You can try opening the first file changing the input driver (Audio/video interleave vs Caching Input). Also you may try using 32bit VirtualDub2 intead of x64 version (you may configure it with AuxSetup.exe to Enbable LAA so it will be able to handle 4Gb of RAM instead of 2Gb).

I have same device. In capture mode, select Video, Set Custom Format: Data Format: MJPG; Use Custom Size: 1280x720; also in video, Compression, (No Recompression MJPG); is what I use. I obtained better and faster results with those settings than with fullHD, at least with my TV source broadcast.

Use deinterlacer with "double frame rate" and one of the three interpolating algorithms, Yadif is the best that VD has, bob is the simplest. Make sure you correctly set up field order, to verify, skip frame by frame - if the movement is consistent then your field order is correct, if it is like two frames forward one frame back, then it is incorrect and needs to be swiched to another one, there are only two options,...

Hi Gilles, that wasn't the question. For capture, as in most programs (ie: audacity, adobe audition, etc) levels are set by windows mixer. In edit mode there is: volume and conversion, or an advanced filtering with time stretch, resample, gain, filters, etc. Personally if audio processing is required, I always extract to WAV, do all audio processing on CoolEdit, and then remux when doing final A+V compress.

Excuse me I should have directed the question at Anton Shekhovtsov. It is a question to see if he could give solution for why DShowInputDriver.vdplugin v0.9.3.0 doesn't work ATM with VD2 and if he could update it to work with VD2. DShowInputDriver.vdplugin is a Video-Audio Input Driver that would allow users to load video and audio directly into VD2. The more options the user has, better for VD2 for having them.

Audio/Video Interleave interface is good for MJPEG, HUFFYUV and other all keyframes formats. VDub is still useful for full processing, scrips, etc, understanding it's limitations. As nobody is getting paid for this you may try to add those missing features yourself instead :)

  • isidroco isidroco posted a comment on ticket #431

It's quite easy to make simple fade from/to solid color only (usually black). If you need this, add "fill" filter, then use filters->blending.. dialog, apply opacity curve. Blending A [B] marker means that a filter is being blended. When blending is active, the Curve Editor in the main view can be used to blend the result of the filter in and out over time.

There is a trick (some people found it too difficult) to reverse video only (not the sound): use fflayer filter, point it the file you want to reverse, set follow timeline from to last frame number, rate -1.

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #429

Yes, there is, actually. You will need Avisynth Plus to do this. The original Avisynth is incompatible with VirtualDub 2. I would also recommend downloading AVSEdit Plus. For me this was a godsend. Not only does it let you easily interact with the scripts that you've created. But it also provides templates for all other types of scripts so that you never have to write them down, memorize them, or look them up on the internet again. Truly, a magnificent tool.

  • Anonymous posted a comment on ticket #428

I would assume that you're trying to use the original Avisynth to do this as VirtualDub 2 does not have a native fading filter. Avisynth is incompatible with VirtualDub 2. And it will continue to give you an error message if you try using your scripts with it installed. However, if you upgrade to Avisynth Plus, then it will work just fine. Can't use an old engine with a new car after all. ;-)

Deinterlacing should only be used for broadcast videos where all frames are interlaced, NEVER for movies which have been telecined. Movies are telecined to add one extra frame for every 4 to convert from 24fps to 30fps for creating NTSC videos. Deinterlacing will still leave duplicate frames and sometimes multiple duplicates in a row. This will cause even more judder and make good spot removal impossible for plut-ins, and more difficult for manual frame by frame removal. As to deinterlacing, the...

You still don't get it. Duplicate frames don't take any space at all on H264. You won't reduce file size by decimating. As I tried to explain before. A whole bunch of frames are compressed taking in account very little is changed from one frame to another. You can erase 4 every 5 frames on all video, and final h264 size would still be 99% of the original h264 you tried to reduce. Please stop insisting on this.

New codecs won't be able to improve, I would say that just yet computers ever evolving. Just need someone with different ideas to move compression into another direction. That said as you say its about hardware as always was to decode the frames fast enough. Encoders already use CPU or today GFX. There was a great con GFX devices of long ago with AGP when they touted capabilities such as a zillion of GFlops and a whole lot more besides more but didn't do encoding why was that I sometimes wonder!....

  • isidroco isidroco posted a comment on ticket #417

My answer stands for all compressors which uses previous and optionally future frames as a base to achieve high compression as XVID, DIVX, H264. H265 was an example, H264 works exactly the same way. H265 doesn´t have limitations, players and devices have. New codecs won´t be able to improve a lot. Eventually new hardware will be able to encode decode faster, but size improvements will be marginal. h265 have same quality at a smaller size, at the prize of high cpu use. But maybe a 30% size saving...
