Abstract

　外部Ａからの泥水等に曝されやすい部分の軸周等を密封する密封装置１において、対油シールリップ１３の摺動部Ｓ１へ泥水等が侵入するのを極力防止する。このため、非回転のハウジング２の開口端部２ａの内周面に取り付けられるオイルシール１０と、ハウジング２に挿通された回転体５にオイルシール１０の軸方向外側に位置して取り付けられるスリンガ２０とを備え、オイルシール１０が、金属製の補強環１１にゴム状弾性材料で一体に成形されたものであって、回転体５の外周面に摺動可能に密接される対油シールリップ１３及び前記スリンガ２０と摺動可能に密接されるサイドリップ１５が形成され、前記補強環１１に、前記ゴム状弾性材料から露出してサイドリップ１５の摺動部Ｓ２より外径側に位置する摺動筒部１１ｂが形成され、この摺動筒部１１ｂの外周面に、スリンガ２０の外径部２２ａに設けられた外部シールリップ２３が摺動可能に密接された構成とする。
