Abstract

　外部からの泥水等に曝されやすい部分の軸周等を密封する密封装置１において、対油シールリップ１３の摺動部Ｓ１へ泥水等が侵入するのを極力防止し得る構造とする。このため、非回転のハウジング２の開口端部２ａの内周面に取り付けられるオイルシール１０と、ハウジング２に挿通された回転体５にオイルシール１０の軸方向外側に位置して取り付けられるスリンガ２０とを備え、オイルシール１０が、金属製の補強環１１にゴム状弾性材料で一体に成形されたものであって、回転体５の外周面に摺動可能に密接される対油シールリップ１３が形成され、補強環１１に、ゴム状弾性材料から露出してハウジング２の開口端部２ａと反対側を向きスリンガ２０の外周側を包囲するように延びる外径筒部１１ｂが形成され、この外径筒部１１ｂの内周面に、スリンガ２０のリム部２３にハウジング２の開口端部２ａと反対側を向いて設けられた外部シールリップ２４が摺動可能に密接される。
