Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft einen Schalenkatalysator für die Herstellung von Vinylacetat-Monomer (VAM), umfassend einen als Formkörper ausgebildeten, oxidischen porösen Katalysatorträger mit einer äußeren Schale, in welcher metallisches Pd und Au enthalten sind. Um einen Schalenkatalysator für die Herstellung von VAM bereitzustellen, der eine verhältnismäßig hohe Aktivität aufweist und relativ kostengünstig erhältlich ist, wird vorgeschlagen, dass der Katalysatorträger mit zumindest einem Oxid eines Elementes ausgewählt aus der Gruppe bestehend aus Li, P, Ca, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Sr, Nb, Ta, W, La und den Seltenerdmetallen dotiert ist.
