Description
MIRROR WASHBASIN Filed A112. 50 1922 Hm@ l Patented Jan. 8, 1924.
PATENT OFFICE.
Uhli'll STATES` FRANK A. KRATOCHVIL, 0F CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
MIRROR WASHBASIN.
Application led August 30, 1922.
To @ZZ whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, FRANK A. KRATOCH- vir., a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Mirror Washbasin, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a wash basin and more particularly to a novel wash basin that is provided with a mirro-r surface, so that a person using the wash basin may have the benet of a mirror without the necessity of raising his head, thereby splashing water over the floor.
Another object of my invention is to provide a wash basin having a mirror inlayed in the body portion thereof, so that the mirror will be flush with the interior surface, said mirror basin being so constructed that the hot or cold water will not have any bad effect on the glass.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a mirror basin, that is strong.l durable, simple and inexpensive in construction, and that is well adapted to be used in the homes or public places where it is desired that individual mirrors be had.
@ther objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent during the course of the following description.
In the drawings, wherein like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
F ig. l is a perspective view illustrating a wash basin being provided with a mirror inlaid within the basin, and
Figure 2 is a section taken substantially on line 3 3 of Figure l.
In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral designates an ordinary form of wash basin, having the usual back 6. The basin 5 is provided with a drain pipe 2' which will be more fully described hereinafter. The numeral 8 designates a mirror which is inlaid within the interior of the bowl 5, and held in place by means of a suitable cement or Serial No. 585,186.
' the like. The mirror 8 is arcuated both vertically and longitudinally so as to conform to the curvature of the wash basin 5. An angularly disposed lip 5 is formed integral with the body of the mirror 8 and is inlaid in the rear top portion of the basin, as is clearly shown in the drawings. In this manner, three mirror portions are available, namely the top mirror portion which is inlaid in the rear top portion of the base, a somewhat vertically disposed mirror portion, that is located along the rear face of the basin, inally disposed portion inlaid in the bottom of the basin. If it is desired, the mirror 8 may extend further around, as the mirror shown in Figure l, is merely illustrative of the form of mirror which may be used. It will thus be seen, that when a person 'is using the wash basin 5, he may look into the mirror 8 without raising his head, as it is a well known fact that when a person washes their face, they unconsciously look up in a mirror to see if his face is properly washed or to see if all the lather is removed. The idea of this invention is to eliminate the necessity of raising the head to look into a mirror which is hung on the wall, thereby avoiding drops of water on the floor and otherwise splattering the place with water.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred embodiment of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. In combination with a wash basin, a mirror arcuated both longitudinally and vertically to conform to the curvature of said basin, said mirror being inlaid in said basin, flush with the surface thereof, and a mirror flange formed integral with said mirror and adapted to extend in a longitudinal plane parallel to the top of said basin.
and a second somewhat longitud- 2. ln combination With a Wash basin, a said miii'oi'l and flange presenting three mirror arouated both longitudinally and mirror surfaces. 10 vertically, to conform to the curvature of ln testimony whereof l aiiX my signature said basin and inlaid Within said basin, and in presence of two Witnesses.
5 fiush with the Surface thereof, an angularly FRANK A. KRATOCHVlL,
disposed portion formed integral with said Witnesses: mirror and adapted to be inlaid in the top LEO L. BENSON,
of said basin, so as to be flush therewith, ALBIN E. WAmREN.,
