To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN A. EATON, a subject of the King of England, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented. a certain new and useful Improvement in Curtained Spray and Shower Baths, of which the following is a specification.

One of the principal objects of my invention is to provide an improved shower bath and spray, in the form of a curtained frame work adapted to be detachably secured upon a. bath tub of ordinary construction, and without the requirement of any fitting or plumbing in setting up the device.

Another object of the invention resides in the provision of novel means for securing the'framework to the bath tub.

With these and other objects in view which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several figures, of which Figure 1 represents a view in perspective of a shower bath attachment constructed according to my invention, the near curtain being removed from the frame for clearness of illustration;

Fig. 2 represents a view in section taken transversely on the plane indicated by the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, 5 indicates a bath tub of ordinary construction having the usual rim 6 extending around the upper edge thereof. The framework of the spray and shower bath includes the corner uprights 7, connected together at their upper ends by the bars 8, the ends of the bars being connected together and to the upper ends of the uprights 7 through the medium of suitable couplings or fittings 9.

At the end of the frame adjacent the foot of the tub, is arranged a feed pipe 9 which depends from one of the bars 8 and has a returned curved portion 9 connected by means of a flexible hose 10 with one of the faucets 11 of the tub. The line or pipe 9 intermediate its ends is equipped with a shower head or spray 12 controlled by the usual cock 13. Across the top of the framework longitudinally of the tub extends another feed pipe 1% connecting with the pipe 9 at the upper end of the latter, through the medium of a suitable coupling 15. The pipe 14: carries an overhead shower or spray head 16 controlled by a cock 1?. Extending all the way around the framework and suspended from the bars 8 by means of suitable clips 18, is a. curtain 19, which serves to prevent the water from being sprayed onto the floor, and protect the bather from drafts.

The corner uprights 7 of the framework are mounted on the tub through the medium of clips 20. Each of these clips is made of a strip of suitable metal, preferably some what resilient, curved inwardly and around at one end to form a hook 21 for engaging under the outer edge of the flange 6 of the tub, as shown in Fig. 2. The other end of the strip of metal curves around as at 22 to conform with the surface of the rail or flange 6, and is then bent upwardly into vertical position, as indicated at 23 to form a shank on which the lower end of one of the corner bars 7 is mounted. Preferably the uprights or corner posts of the framework are made of tubing, and the lower end of each upright is flattened as at 24 to snugly fit over the shank 23.

In mounting the device on the tub, the clips 20 are first secured in position. 111 securing these clips in place they are first held in a relatively upside down position, and are then manipulated so that the hook 521 will engage under the free edge of the flange 6 of the tub, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2. Then the hook is forced upwardly and around and dropped over in place upon the flange of the tub to assume the final position indicated in full lines in the figure. After the clips have been secured in correct position the framework is placed over the tub and the lower ends of the bars 7 engaged upon the hooks so that the framework will finally be mounted in the position indicated in Fig. 1.

Although I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I may desire to make such changes in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts thereof, as do not depart from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
