I. claim:
1. In combination with the motorcycles, two arranged in spaced parallel relation, and one in rear and intermediate the other two, a pair of spaced parallel rigidly connected trough shaped casings arranged between the two front motorcycles, a screw threaded rod journaled in each of the said casings, means for simultaneously rotating, the rods in the same direction, a nut mounted on each rod, a series of substantially triangular shield plates pivoted by the smaller ends in overlapping relation at the front of each trough shaped casing, and a connection between the plates of each series and the adjacent nut, said connections comprising wstretchers pivoted at one end to the plates nected trough shaped casings arranged beand at the other end to the nut, and means for supporting a machine gun between the two front motorcycles.
2. In combination with the motorcycles, two arranged in spaced parallel relation, and one in rear and intermediate the other two, a pair of spaced parallel rigidly contween the two front motorcycles, a screw threaded rod journaled in each of the said casings, means for simultaneously rotating the rods in the same direction, a nut mounted on each rod, a seriesof substantially triangular shield plates pivoted by the smaller ends in overlapping relation at the front of each trough shaped casing, and a connection between the plates of each series and the ad jacent collar.
3. A device of the character specified, comprising in combination with a pair of motorcycles arranged in parallel spaced relation and connected to steer together, of a machine gun supported betwcen the motorcycles, a third motorcycle behind the ma chine gun, an expansible and collapsible shield at each side of the gun, and means for expanding and contracting the shield, each shield consisting of a series of fan shaped plates having their smaller ends forward and pivoted at the said ends in overlapping relation.

A device of the character specified, comprising in combination with a pair of motorcycles, arranged in parallel spaced rclation and-connected to steer together, of a machine gun supported between the motorc cles, a third motorcycle behind the machine gun, an expansible and collapsible shield at each side of the gun, and means for expanding and contracting the shield' 5. A device of the character specified, comprising a pair of laterally spaced motor cycles connected to steer together, a machine gun supported between the motorcycles, and an expansible and contractible shield at each side of the gun, and common means for expanding and contracting the shields, a third motorcycle behind the pair and intermediate the members of thepair, the expanding and contracting mechanism for the shields being adjacent to the rider of the said whee-l.
6. A device of the character specified, comprising a pair of laterally spaced motorcycles connected to steer together, a machine gun supported between the motorcycles, and an expansible and contractible shield of sheet metal plates at each side of the gun,
and common means for expanding and contracting the shields.
7. A device of the character comprising a pair of laterally spaced motorcycles connected to steer together, a machine gun supported between the motorcycles, and an expansible and contractible shield at each side of the gun, and common means for expanding and contracting the shields, each of the said shields consisting of a series of fan shaped plates, having their small ends for ward and pivoted together in overlapping relation.
