Description
図1は、本発明の一実施形態に係る垂直磁気記録媒体10の構成の第1の例を示す。垂直磁気記録媒体10は、垂直磁気記録方式のハードディスクドライブに搭載される磁気ディスクであり、ディスク基体12、軟磁性層14、垂直磁気記録層16、保護層18、及び潤滑層20をこの順で備える。ディスク基体12は、円盤状のガラス基板であり、アルミノシリケートガラス、アルミノボロシリケートガラス、又はソーダライムガラス等で形成されている。ディスク基体12は、上層の磁化容易軸を制御するためのテクスチャが形成されていないガラス基板であるのが好ましい。ディスク基体12は、ドーナツ型の円盤状であってよい。
Claims (3)
- 垂直磁気記録方式のハードディスクドライブに搭載される垂直磁気記録媒体の製造方法であって、
前記垂直磁気記録媒体は、
円盤状のディスク基体と、
前記ディスク基体上に成膜された軟磁性層と、
前記軟磁性層上に成膜された垂直磁気記録層と
を備え、
DCマグネトロンスパッタリング法に必要な磁場を発生するための磁石である回転磁石と、
前記回転磁石を回転駆動する磁石回転用台と
を用い、
前記磁石回転用台により、前記回転磁石を自転させつつ前記磁石回転用台の中心に対して公転させることにより、各ディスク基体の位置における磁場の方向及び強度を常に変化させることにより、前記軟磁性層を、磁化容易軸が面内ランダムに制御されるようにDCマグネトロンスパッタリング法で成膜し、
前記軟磁性層の各部において、当該部分に含まれる磁性粒子の磁化容易軸の方向分布が前記軟磁性層の主表面内各方向に対して等方的であり、かつ、
前記主表面に垂直な方向が磁化困難軸になるように成膜されることを特徴とする垂直磁気記録媒体の製造方法。 - 基板アダプタに複数のディスク基体を保持させて前記成膜を行うことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の垂直磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 前記複数のディスク基体が1インチ又は0.85インチの小径の円盤状体であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の垂直磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
