Abstract
A conventional roasting operation is used to produce a Portland cement clinker including, as incorporated setting-regulating component, (a) sulphate, in the presence of alkali metal in a combined state, and/or (b) halogen in a combined state, the said setting-regulating component being present in a sufficient proportion to prevent a premature setting of the cement produced from this clinker; the preferred halogen is fluorine, and it becomes possible to grind the clinker, even when hot, to form a cement in the absence of the usual additions such as additions of gypsum or anhydrite.
