Abstract
998,336. Advancing mine roof supports. GULLICK Ltd. Nov. 4, 1963 [Dec. 5, 1962], No. 46026/62. Heading E1E. A mine roof support comprises forward and rear prop units 11, 10 whose roof bar structures are connected by spring steel or like members 32, 33, one end of each such member being pivoted on a bar 19 of the rear structure 15 - - 18 while the other end is rigidly connected to the forward structure 24 - - 26. The rigid connection may be detachable (as by bolt 34, Fig. 4). The bases of the prop units are pivoted to a rigid connecting link 37, or to a pair of such links. The four props 14 of the rear unit 10, and the two props 23 of the forward unit 11 are each of hydraulic three-element type and may be supported in resilient bushes 22a, 22b. The forward roof bars carry an extension 35, preferably of elastic material. A conveyer c is connected by a vertically-slotted coupling 30 to a bar 29 passing beneath the unit 11 and connected by a slotted coupling 28 to the piston of a hydraulic advancing ram 36 pivoted in the base of unit 10.
