Abstract

950,066. Advancing mine roof supports. GULLICK Ltd. Nov. 29, 1960 [Feb. 18, 1960], No. 5708/60. Heading E1E. An advancing mine roof support comprises two units pivoted together at 41 and interconnected at their base by a pair of pivoted links, see Fig. 3 (not shown), one unit comprising four hydraulic props 32 arranged on a common base and the other unit comprising a single prop 36. The props are resiliently mounted in their sockets by means of rubber rings 37, 39 and the prop 36 abuts a concave recess 42 of the roof bar extension 40. The conveyer C is advanced by a double-acting hydraulic ram 43 pivotably connected thereto and protected by a cover 47. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the four prop unit is replaced by a three prop unit having a roof bar in the form of a triangular canopy.
