In a connector the contact terminals are locked into a bore in an insulating body, after insertion from the rear, by a fixed stop preventing further forward motion and an adjustable stop which normally prevents rearward withdrawal but which may be released by the insertion of a tool in an access passage at the rear. As shown, the bore in the insulating body 11, Fig. 2, is lined with a resilient split sleeve 35, Fig. 7, part of which is formed into a tongue 41. The contact terminal, in this ease a pin, is inserted from the rear and the collar 27 raises tongue 41 until the collar passes the end of the tongue and beds against a fixed shoulder 39. The tongue then springs back and prevents the terminal from being withdrawn. The terminal may be removed by inserting a tool into the slot at the rear between the terminal and the sleeve, which raises the tongue 41 and allows the rearward withdrawal of the pin. In further embodiments are described a slave with two locking tongues, arrangements in which the terminal may be a socket, and shortened sleeves. The insulating body may be made of hard material or of relatively soft elastomeric material stiffened by the sleeves, which may be made of metal or a synthetic resin and may be sprung into the insulator, bonded by a suitable material or held in place by insulating face plates.
