965,287. Vehicle sliding windows. PERCY LANE Ltd. Oct. 18, 1962 [Sept. 14, 1961], No. 32928/61. Heading E1J. In a vehicle window having side-by-side relatively slidable panes, the frame comprises bars (top, bottom and two sides or preferably one continuous extruded aluminium bar bent to form the four sides) having sideby-side channels 30, 31 for the panes 18, 17 and an attachment flange 42 disposed at the inner face of the frame parallel with the panes 17, 18 and abutting against the outer face of the window aperture flange 15, 16 to which it is secured by a U- shaped trim bead 43 or by clips which can straddle the flanges. The movable pane 17 slides in a sealing strip channel run 33 secured in the inner channel 31 by lips 30 at the mouth of the channel. A strengthening strip 45 on the pane 17 has a window operating flange 46 thereon on the inner side and a latch fitment 50 mounted on the flange 42 and aperture flange 15, 16 by a bracket which supports a horizontal hinge for the catch 50, which can be turned into or out of the path of the flange 46.
