941,076. Portable winches. J. H. DAVIS, and H. J. CARPENTER. Nov. 30, 1959 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 38666/58. Heading B8B. Winch frame 1 carries, at one end thereof, shackle 4 by which it is supported to a fixture 5 and, at the other end, cable drum 8. Drum 8 is driven by handle 11 via gearing 12, 13 and pulls cable 7 over pulley 2 to raise load L, which is sustained by holding pawl 14. The weight of the load L is partly balanced by the weight of the winch frame, which may be extended at EA.
