Abstract

1,172,534. Clothes hoists. HILLS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 12 Aug., 1966 [13 Aug., 1965], No. 36155/66. Addition to 988,557. Heading A4U. A rotary clothes hoist comprises four arms 31 hinged to a lower cross 23 rotatable and slidable on a standard 15, four links 34 pivoted to the arms 31 and to an upper cross 19 rotatable between collars 17, 18 at the top of the standard and an elivating rope 58 secured at one end to the lower cross 23 and passing over a pulley 53 secured to the upper cross 19 and then over a second pulley (46) secured to the lower cross 23. The free end of the rope is secured to one of the arms 31. The rope is used to elevate the lower cross to a position in which it is held by a latch 25. Clothes lines (41) are reeved through loops (40) on the arms 31. The standard 15 is supported in a base tube (10) embedded in a cement base (11) and provided with a pivoted cover (12).
