Abstract

930,816. Screwing-up machine. FORGES ET ATELIERS DE MEUDON. Aug. 23, 1961 [Sept. 1, 1960], No. 30386/61. Class 83 (3). [Also in group XXIV] A screwing-up tool comprises hammers 20, 21 mounted for radial sliding movement between side members 29 of a driving member 19 and carrying two guide rollers 26 engaging cam apertures 28 in the side members. The tool has a pneumatic motor 15 which can be reversed by a knob 16. The hammers carry dogs 22, 23 respectively engaging dogs 34, 35 on the tool driving member 30, 32. In operation, the hammers move outwardly under the centrifugal action of the rotating masses and cause rotation of the tool. When rotation is resisted, the hammers are moved inwardly by the cams 28 until they are released for continued rotation. In a modification, two blows per revolution, instead of one, are given, the single blow of the illustrated embodiment being due to the positioning of the single dog 22 in the circumferential space between the twin dogs 23.
