Abstract
1338022 Percussive tools RENHOLMENS MEKANISKA VERKSTAD AB 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21936/71 Heading B4C In a percussive machine, impacts are applied to a tool holder 23 by a hammer 17 raised, against bias of spring 25, by a cam mechanism and subsequently released. An arm 12 pivotally attached at 13 to the hammer carries at one end a roller (10) (Fig. 2, not shown) and at the other end a shock-absorber 28 which limits counterclockwise pivoting of the arm. The roller (10) coacts with cam surface 9 of a rotatable cam plate driven in use via a shaft 3 by a drive motor of the machine. The motor may be an electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic motor or an I.C. engine. Alternatively the machine does not include a motor in which case the shaft 3 is driven from an external source. Guides 19 and a guide sleeve 20 guide the hammer which thus moves rectilinearly. The cam surface 9 illustrated provides two strokes of the hammer for each revolution of the cam plate. Other cam plates may be used which provide a single or more than two strokes per revolution.
