Abstract

1,186,379. Swaging. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. 21 July, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 32887/66. Heading B3H. A swaging machine has its radial hammers 13 actuated by pneumatic or hydraulic rams 12 and the hammers are also linked together mechanically to ensure synchronous operation. The hammers 13 have spigots 23 engaged in inclined slots 22 in a rotatable disc 21. Alternatively the spigots may be on the disc. The latter is rotated by an hydraulic ram 24 for moving the hammers inwardly to engage the workpiece prior to the actual swaging. Two discs 21 may be provided on opposite sides of the plane containing the hammers. The latter are retracted by springs 17 engaging adjustable sleeves 30 which limit the instrokes of the hammers.
