Abstract

898,404. Fuel injection engines. HENSCHEL WERKE G.m.b.H. June 23, 1959, No. 21553/59. Class 7(3). Air is guided tangentially into a combustion chamber 3, containing an exhaust valve 4, by a recess 10 in the cylinder head or piston, and the fuel is injected through at least two injection orifices of different diameters to produce jets, one of which 12 is directed tangentially to the chamber wall. As shown, the nozzle provides three jets 12, 16, 18, the jet 18 being directed against the exhaust valve and the jet 16 against the piston head. The air entering the cylinder is set into rotation by a masked valve 8.
