Class 120(3) The torque in twist-crimped thermoplastic yarns, e.g. of polyamides, polyesters or cellulose triacetate, is reduced by passing the yarn in a plurality of helical convolutions around a rod or tube heated to a temperature not below 15‹C. below the temperature of the previously applied twist-setting process but not equal to or greater than such process temperature, and then taking up the yarn at a rate slower, e.g. 5 to 10% less, than that at which the yarn is supplied to the rod &c. The treatment may be applied immediately after the crimping operation, as part of a continuous process, or in conjunction with twisting or doubling.
