Abstract

1378593 Drawing filaments FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 9 Feb 1972 [9 Feb 1971] 5979/72 Heading B5B Filaments are drawn by a process in which two heated feed godets are used. The temperature of one of these feed godets differs from the temperature of the other by from 1‹ to 35‹ C., preferably by from 10‹ to 20‹ C. Both godets are at at temperature above the second-order transition temperature of the material of the filaments. In the examples a filament of polyethylene terephthalate is melt-spun and passed to heated godets 2, the lower of which is the hotter, around which the filament is passed 13 times before being passed to drawing godets 4. The filaments may be drawn in one or two stages.
