832,845. Root-crop harvesters. MASSEYFERGUSON (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd., [formerly MASSEY-HARRIS-FERGUSON (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd.]. Sept. 17, 1958 [Sept. 19, 1957], No. 29504/57. Class 6(3). A feeler wheel for a beet-topping machine comprises a hub 36, spokes 37 radiating therefrom and a plurality of annular discs 38 forming a rim, each disc being formed from a series of arcuate segments 41, the discs being axially spaced and connected to the spokes at the joints between the arcuate segments. There are as many segments to each disc as there are spokes to the wheel so that the segments are interconnected by bolts 40 which pass through their ends and through spacers 39. To ensure that each disc lies in a plane, one end of each segment is stepped, as at 42, to overlap the end of the adjacent segment. The topping mechanism, Fig. 1 (not shown), is mid-mounted on a tractor and is floatingly supported on parallel links.
