Abstract

1434300 Rotary-crank handles WILMOTBREEDEN Ltd 31 Oct 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 50671/73 Heading B7E A moulded plastics knob 18 for a handle 10, e.g. of a motor vehicle window winding mechanism, comprises a shank 16 deformable for passage through and snap-engagement with an apertured part of the handle 10, and an integrally formed locking pin 36 held by a frangible connection in a retracted position from which it can be driven into the shank when the latter is in snap-engagement with the handle to prevent deformation of the shank and hence removal of the knob 18 from the handle. In the illustrated embodiment the shank 16 is divided by radial slots into four tongues, e.g. 20, 26, each of quadrant shape in end elevation and provided with a tapered nose 32 and a shoulder 28 for snap-engagement behind a boundary wall 29 of a hole 14 through the handle 10. The knob 18 has a cup-shaped body provided adjacent its mouth with a seating for press-fitting a cover plate 40, the seating being located such that the cover plate cannot be fitted until the pin 36 has been displaced into the shank 16.
