Abstract
1430972 Lamp cap GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 14 Jan 1974 [17 Jan 1973] 2425/73 Heading H2E In the contacts of a bayonet lamp cap, to prevent holder contacts (not shown) from embedding in and adhering to the soldering of the leads, contact portions 8 and soldering portions 6 are integral but distinct. The rim of eyelet 7 and tab 9 are embedded in the vitreous insulation 3 during moulding. When the cap is fitted to lamp envelope 12, leads 11 are fed through tapered guides 7a and are soldered to 6, groove 5 preventing solder migration to portion 8. The contacts are shaped and sited so that, on insertion of bayonet pins 2 into the holder slots, the holder contact pins normally take successive positions from 14a to 14b, with 14c and 14d as extremes of the range allowed for tolerance. The contacts may be constructed with opposite hand (Figs. 4, 5, not shown), the eyelets 7 then lying clockwise of the contact portions 8, and being differently located relative to pins 2. The pins 2, instead of being rivetted in place, are preferably spun from the metal of the cap to avoid risk of contact with the adjacent lead wire.
