Abstract
1418522 Snap action switch; thermal switch EBERLE WERKE KG 25 Oct 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 49699/73 Heading H1N A mechanical or thermal snap acting switch has contacts 5, 6 opened or closed by an elongate member 1 supported at one end, a leaf spring 9 applying by one extremity a longitudinal compressive force on the other end of the member so as to render it angularly movable with respect to its support with a snap action and means 13, 14, 17 or 18-22, for adjusting the compressive force of the spring, supported on a central portion of the spring. The spring adjustment may comprise nut 14 and bolt 13 which compresses bowed spring 9 between nut 14 and head 17 of the bolt. Rotation of nut 14 is prevented by lugs 15 (Fig. 4, not shown). Alternatively screw 20 in a threaded hole in one limb 19 of the U-shaped spring centre bears adjustably on the second limb 22 of the U. Member 1 may pivot about a knife edge 3 or be firmly anchored (Fig. 2, not shown) in its support. Mechanical actuation is by pin 11 or by movement of spring support 12. If member 1 is bimetallic, the temperature sensitivity is adjusted by a threaded member replacing pin 11.
