Abstract

1409273 Forming tunnel linings GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 26 Sept 1972 [27 Sept 1971 12 Nov 1971] 44349/72 Headings E1F and E1S A tunnel is lined with concrete which is compressed within a chamber by the reaction from a plurality of rams acting to advance a drive shield into the working face, filter means being provided to allow water to be forced out of the chamber by the reaction from the rams. As shown, the filter or filters may be situated either in a front abutment member, as at 31, 30 in Fig. 3, with hydraulic rams 11 operating against the member 30, or in one or more longitudinal shutters, e.g. 21, Fig. 2. In the embodmient of Fig. 2, the shutters 21 are separate from.. a .double walled abutment member 20, forming part of the chamber, against which the rams 11 act to push the drive shield 10 forward. The member 20 can slide over shutters 21. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 (not shown) the longitudinal shutter (14), forming one wall of the chamber, has an integral double-walled abutment portion (15) for the rams. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, vibrators 34 act between the shutters 32 to break up any hardened concrete patches a formed by abutment member 30. ..
