1467009 Straight-bar knitting machines; knitted fabrics WILLIAM COTTON Ltd 24 Sept 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 49289/73 Headings D1C and D1K Interspersed with first permanently operated plain needles in a straight-bar knitting machine are second selectively operable plain needles to which most rib needles transfer their loops on the completion of rib knitting, some rib needles however transfer their loops to first plain needles, the corresponding second plain needle being omitted so that a wale of floats is formed in the plain fabric knitted after transfer of the rib loops. As shown, normal latch rib needles have spreaders 6 while those transferring to first plain needles have spreaders 8.
