Abstract

1457151 Reciprocating pumps UNITAS SA 24 May 1974 [25 May 1973] 23252/74 Heading F1A A pump for adding measured quantities of a first liquid to a second liquid comprises a plunger 15 drivingly connected to a diaphragm 21 reciprocated by a crank or eccentrice mechanism of a volume meter, the upward stroke of plunger 15 within bore 13 drawing the first liquid from a container (23), Fig. 2 (not shown), via ball-valve 12, and the plunger being completely withdrawn from the bore during its upward stroke so that pressure equalization occurs between bore 13 and a space 22 beneath the diaphragm containing the second liquid at a higher pressure than the initial pressure of the first liquid, the next downward stroke of the plunger discharging the liquid from bore 13 via ball-valve 20. The volume delivered is adjusted by rotating cylinder 4 by collar 2 to axially displace the cylinder, which is screw-threaded in housing 1, a scale on collar 2 and housing 1 indicating the delivery setting. Inlet pipe 9 has a filter (24) at its inlet.
