Abstract

1447090 Developing device RICOH KK 12 Dec 1973 [22 Dec 1972] 57558/73 Heading G2H A roller 24 for removing excess developing liquid from a xerographic drum 11 is rotated so that the adjacent surfaces of the roller 24 and the drum 11 move in substantially opposite directions, the roller 24 contacting the liquid on the drum 11 but not the drum per se, and means are provided to vary the rotational speed of the roller 24 and the gap between it and the drum 11 to adjust the amount of liquid remaining on the surface of the drum 11, after it has passed the roller 24, to a desired level; means 25 also being provided to remove liquid from the roller 11. Two suitable roller gap adjusting mountings are described. The roller 24 may also be used to remove surplus developer from a continuous web (60) as it passes around a drum (61), Fig. 12 (not shown), or from a copy sheet 62, Fig. 13, conveyed by a suction backed belt 65.
