Abstract

1331745 Structural members J W PRATT 3 Nov 1970 [11 Nov 1969] 55069/69 Headings E1K and E1W A hollow stanchion of generally rectangular transverse cross-section has longitudinal outwardly opening channels in three sides and a slot in the other side. The stanchion is of rolled or extruded steel. Channels 15, 18, 19 and slot 24 are dove-tailed and have resiliently yieldable sides to allow insertion and retention of a dove-tailed part. In Fig. 2 (not shown) a gusset 26 comprising a concrete core between galvanised sheets is secured in slot 24 and in slots of beams 29, 30 by rivets 27. Alternatively a beam has a reduced end containing a longitudina1 slot retained in a channel in the stanchion. The stanchion may be used to form a rack for shelving.
