Abstract
1,011,092. Beams. G. B. HERN. Aug. 28, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961], No. 34349/61. Headings E1K and E1V. The web of a girder comprises parts 3 in staggered relation in two planes connected by transverse parts 4 the length and depth of the part 3 being greater than the width of the web. One girder comprises a rectangularly corrugated web 1, Fig. 1, with chords formed as channels 2 welded &c. to its two edges. The transverse parts of the corrugations may be cut away at the top and bottom to accommodate box or channel section solid metal or wooden chords between the outer edges of the longitudinal parts of the corrugations, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). In Fig. 7 the web comprises two sets of shallow channels 22 facing each other with the flanges 23 of each set midway between the flanges of the other set and welded together. The girders are connected together by brackets 10, 11, 12, Fig. 3, and two girders may be connected end to end by channels. Specification 1,011,093 is referred to.
