Abstract

1324034 Presulphiding catalyst compositions SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 28 Sept 1970 46045/70 Heading B1E Hydroprocessing catalysts contained in a plurality of catalytic reaction stages are presulphided by passing a hydrogen-rich gas and a sulphur-containing hydrocarbon oil over the catalysts at elevated pressure and under specified conditions of temperature wherein the temperature in the reaction stages is increased between specified limits as the sulphiding proceeds. In the Examples there are two reaction stages in series each containing a different catalyst composition. The Examples describe treating catalyst compositions comprising: (i) NiO, MoO 3 , F and Al 2 O 3 used in series with NiO, WO 3 , F, SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 ; and (ii) NiO, MoO 3 , P 2 O 5 , F and Al 2 O 3 used in series with NiO, MoO 3 , P 2 O 5 and Al 2 O 3 . The sulphurcontaining hydrocarbon oil used is a Kuwait heavy gas oil.
