Abstract

1321028 Printing apparatus TIMSONS Ltd 1 June 1972 [13 Aug 1971] 38101/71 Heading B6C Flexible printing plate 3 is held on, and tensioned about, plate cylinder 1 by engagement of one preferred end 3a with an acute-angled lip 2a on a recess 2 and of another 3a with a slot 4a in a rotatable bar 4 within the recess. In its tensioned position the plate is locked by overdead-centre action of a two-part toggle 5, 6, which is located at one end, or one at each end, of the cylinder and is pivoted at 9 on the cylinder and at 12 on an arm 8 secured to the bar 4. When the plate 3 is to be removed, insertion of a tool in a hole 10 in the free end of the toggle part 5 allows the centre pin 11 of the toggle to be moved adjacent to the cylinder periphery, so that the parts 5, 6 form an acute angle and the slot 4a faces the mouth of the recess 2. Fine adjustment of the tension of the locked plate may be made by adjusting the length of the toggle part 6, by rotation of a screw threaded into the pin 11.
