Abstract
1320287 Watch band TEXTRON Inc 11 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 16638/72 Heading A3H [Also in Division E2] An end fastener for a wrist-watch strap comprises a plate member 20 having bifurcated loop portions 21 for receiving the spring bar 60 of the watch, an ornamental shell 30 which has a looped portion 33 which covers the loops 21, and a pair of hollow, resilient insert members 40 which are forced into the loop 33 of the shell but which project to make up the width between the wrist-watch lugs. The plate 20 is secured in place by bending tabs 34 of the ornamental shell, and a projection 25 on an sliding plate 24 projects between loops 21 and through slot 35. The sliding plate 24 is held by clips 22. Noses 43 of the insert engage slots 23 in the loops to prevent rotation. When the spring bar is removed, the sliding plate 24 may be moved so that its flange 25 occupies its place and thus leaves a gap at its edge 28 for the insertion of a first link 15 of the strap. When it is returned, it holds this link in place. Tapered inserts are used for round watches (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown).
