Abstract

Heading A3H. {Also in Division F2] A link strap is composed of detachable links each having a frame 21 and an insert 22. One end of the frame has two lugs 28, bored to take a hinge-pin 23, while the other end is cut away centrally at 29, the remainder having two recesses which can accommodate the ends of the hinge pin. The insert has, at one end, a single lug 27, which is adapted to fit between the lugs 28 of the frame and is also bored, and at the other end two tongues 24 of a size to fit in the recesses in the frame. The strap may be assembled by offering up the insert 23 from beneath the frame 21, guiding the tongues 24 of the insert into the recesses of the frame and inserting a hinge-pin 23 while the three lugs 27, 28 are in register. The assembled link is now offered up beneath an empty frame 21 and the ends of the pin 23 of the completed link are inserted into the recesses of the new frame. The pin is locked in position by placing an insert 22 in the frame, in the manner described above, a second hinge pin being inserted through the lugs once more. This process is repeated to form a long chain, or a watch-strap or bracelet may be constructed by suitable modifications to the ends of the strap. The link shown is adapted to hold an ornamental piece (22a), Fig. 17 (not shown), whereas the link of Figs. 1-11 (not shown) has a non apertured insert (2) which is ornamental in itself.
