Abstract
1318321 Metallurgical grade coke TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 7 April 1971 9028/71 Heading C5G Metallurgical grade coke is produced from high sulphur and metal content coke by (i) preoxidizing to obtain an increase in the surface area, (ii) contacting with synthesis gas at at least 1300‹ F. to hydrodesulphurize and produce H 2 S as effluent gas, (iii) contacting said effluent gas and coke from (ii) at 275-430‹ F. under elevated pressure (e.g. 450-750 p.s.i.g.) and (iv) separating the purified coke from the resulting metal carbonyls, CO, H 2 and H 2 S.
