Abstract

1318002 Continuous casting SCHLOEMANN AG 4 June 1971 [8 June 1970] 19112/71 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] In a casting plant having at least one casting station and at least one corresponding slag removing station, ladle handling apparatus comprises an arm 1 rotatably mounted about a central vertical axis 11 and having bearings at each end for ladles 4, 5, a column 12 having a jib 19, which column 12 is rotatable about axis 11 independently of the arm 1, and a chain or rope 10 associated with the column 12 and jib 19 for tilting a ladle in its bearings. The column 12 and chain or rope 10 are driven by independent hydraulic cylinders. The chain or rope 10 has a remotely controlled hook 20 for engaging a drawbar 21 attached at 22 to the bottom 9 of the ladle.
