Abstract

1,260,474. Hooks for lifting annular objects. H. LEVERTON & CO. Ltd. 16 April, 1969 [23 July, 1968], No. 35062/68. Heading B8H. Annular objects 6, Fig. 1, are handled by a hook 1 which is swung about a horizontal axis by a ram 4 and rotated about a vertical axis by rams 12a, 12b (not shown), a chain 11<SP>1</SP> and a sprocket 11. A bracket 7 is attached to a carriage 10 of a fork-lift truck 9 which is used to load the objects, e.g. coils of wire, into a baling machine 14, Fig. 5. One of the jaws 16 of the baling machine has a central gap 15 through which the hook is withdrawn from the coils 6 after they have been set down.
