Abstract

1383231 Marine steering TELEFLEX Inc 27 Jan 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 3844/72 Heading B7V An adjustable steering assembly for attachment to a boat to move the propulsion unit, e.g. outboard motor 18, comprises a housing 22, for attachment at the side of the boat, which holds a swivelable, centrally threaded ball 26. Through ball 26 passes an externally threaded tube 28 so that relative rotation between the tube 28 and the ball 26 serves to adjust the length of tube 28 which protrudes from the housing 22 so that the assembly may be installed easily in boats of different sizes. Tube 28 contains a Bowden cable 66, 62 and a rod 58 which operate motor 18 to steer the boat.
