Abstract

1460290 Hydraulic actuators OUTBOARD MARINE CORP 20 Dec 1973 [4 Jan 1973] 24006/76 Divided out of 1460289 Heading F1 [Also in Division B7] A marine propulsion device comprises an outboard motor (not shown) mounted on a swivel bracket which is itself mounted for vertical swing- ing movement about a horizontal tilt pin relative to a transom bracket for attachment to a vessel, a hydraulic cylinder and piston device 41 being connected between the swivel and transom brackets, and the piston 47 of the device 41 carrying a sleeve 51 on which is wound a resistance coil 33 with the coil being engaged by a wiper in the form of a ball 35 mounted on the cylinder 43 of the device 41, the coil 33 and wiper ball 35 being connected in circuit with a battery 31 and a meter 25 which is calibrated to indicate the trim of the outboard motor relative to the transom of the vessel on which it is mounted.
