Abstract

1381024 Mixing foodstuffs FARMHAND (UK) Ltd 24 May 1973 [26 May 1972] 24963/72 Heading B1C Apparatus for milling and mixing animal foodstuffs comprises a hammer-mill, a rollermill, a mixer, and means for varying the speed of the mixer to be varied relative to that of the milling machinery. As shown the mixer comprises a container 1, a horizontal screw mixer with flight portions 2a, 2b of opposite hand, vertical screws 7, 8, and paddles 6 on horizontal shafts 4, 5. The whole is powered from a chain wheel 9 driven through a variablespeed gearbox or by a variable-speed hydraulic motor so that the speed of the mixer may be varied according to whether the hammer-mill or the roller mill is in operation. The mixer speed may be automatically adjusted, with manual over-ride or automatic self-cancelling at the end of an operation.
