Abstract

1,218,240. Stirring device. INVA A.B. 24 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 61330/68. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F4] A device for stirring molten metal and/or slag comprises shafts 3 coated with ceramic material and each provided with ceramic stirring blades at one end and connected to a motor 17 at the other end, the driven ends of the shafts being mounted in bearing housings at least one of which is displaceable so as to vary the angle between the shafts. The angle of inclination of one stirrer shaft to another in both a horizontal and a vertical plane may be adjusted by means of hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies. The device may be mounted on a fork-lift truck. The blades may be flat or in the form of screw propellers.
