Abstract
1366715 Discharge apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 Aug 1971 [26 Aug 1970] 38972/71 Heading H1X An ion generator, e.g. for discharging static from or for modifying the charge on light sensitive film, comprises a corona discharge electrode 24 within a conductive shield 15 having an elongated opening 16 and a focusing electrode 26 between electrode 24 and opening 16 so that no light can pass directly from the former to the latter. The relative potentials, which can be derived from an A.C. or D.C. source, of the shield 15, electrodes 24, 25 and 26 are so arranged as to direct the ions through a grid 21 on to the material W to be treated. A support 23 is connected to a source of potential if it is desired to charge the material and to earth if it is to be discharged. A supply of gas under pressure can be connected to the inside of shield 15 to promote ion flow.
