Abstract

1291464 Electrostatic charging device AUSTRALIA DEPARTMENT OF SUPPLY SECRETARY OF 28 Oct 1969 [11 Nov 1968] 52829/69 Heading G2H An apparatus for uniformly charging a sheet comprises masking members 1 and 2 placed between corona electrodes 4 and 9 to form an aperture 3 of varying width at right angles to the direction of sheet movement on conveyor belt 10 so that areas of the sheet passing through a region of weak discharge away from the centre are exposed for a correspondingly longer time. In a second embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown) the needle electrode 4 is replaced by a wire electrode (25).
