Abstract

1358106 Vessels transporting cargo containers A M B BELL 13 Dec 1972 [14 Dec 1971] 57933/71 Addition to 1186886 Headings B7A and B7S The ship of the parent Specification is modified by the provision of transverse bulkheads 34 which divide the hold into cells each capable of housing two containers 12. Portcullis doors 34A are provided in the bulkheads so that containers can be floated into the cells. After the first container has been floated into a cell, the cell doors are closed and water is pumped in to raise the container to a position in which it can be retained by hydraulic knees 35. Thereafter, the water level is lowered so that the second container can be admitted.
