1349382 Icebreaking cargo ship ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 1 June 1971 [16 June 1970] 18240/71 Headings B7A and B7S In an icebreaking cargo ship having an inice-operating waterline WL the hull includes at least a midship section having inboard or outboard sloping sides 13 intersecting the waterline and has vertical sides 12 below the waterline and the sloping sides. The height of these vertical sides is at least twice the height of any vertical side 14 located above any inboard or outboard sloping side intersecting the waterline. The hull at the zero waterline is relatively flat. Fig. 8 shows a midship section with inboard sloping sides 25.
