Abstract

1358020 Valves NORTHEAST FLUIDICS Inc 29 Sept 1972 [4 Oct 1971] 45082/72 Heading F2V In an electro-pneumatic control device a valve member 5 is maintained on its seat between an inlet 2 and an outlet 3 by inlet fluid pressure in chamber 4, the inlet fluid pressure in chamber 7 which communicates with chamber 4 via passage 8 being vented by a nozzle 14 at the end of a magnetizable core 12. When a solenoid 15 is energized an armature disc 16 is moved down to close the nozzle 14 to cause the pressure to build-up in chamber 7 and to act on diaphragm 9 to move the valve member 5 off its seat, valve member 9a simultaneously closing communication between outlet 3 and a vent (3a). When the disc 16 is seated on the nozzle 14 a continuous magnetic circuit is formed by core 12, end wall 17 and cylindrical side wall 18 which contacts the disc at its end 19. The disc is formed by a central portion 16a joined by curved arms (16c) to a peripheral portion (16b) and is overlaid by a resilient diaphragm (21) so that the nozzle 14 may alternatively be closed by the admission of fluid pressure to control post (26).
